About Us

From the community, for the community

Founders

We are friends, neighbors, and active community members in Roxbury. We came together to create a boutique cannabis experience that will give back & build generational wealth for our hometown.

Investors

We are primarily people of color from Boston's Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan and Hyde Park neighborhoods and we are 47% women. This model will help build generational wealth for Boston’s BIPOC community.

Employees

We are local Boston residents. We are given a living wage, as well as access to full benefits. The team works with non-profit organizations to find local talent and those who have been negatively impacted by the war on drugs.

Profit Sharing

We provide employees with the opportunity to succeed when our business succeeds. A portion of our profits will be shared directly with our employees.

Stay RootedStay Rooted

Our mission is to build a community-conscious cannabis business committed to engaging, serving and benefiting members of our communities through financial success and social responsibility

Cannabis has been an industry previously riddled with unjust laws and race-based disparities in treatment. Since becoming legalized, it has become a multi-billion dollar industry. We believe that those who have been disproportionately locked up for cannabis should not be locked out of profits.

It is why we decided to open a retail shop focused on bringing the prosperity of this newly legalized market into the communities who have felt the most disproportionate impact.

Through our innovative shared benefits model, the revenue generated by our cannabis businesses creates a new pipeline bringing generational wealth back into Boston families, and back to our communities – communities of color. Every purchase you make with Rooted In will help build a more just and equitable cannabis industry.

“The median net worth of a white family in Boston is $247,500, while the median net worth of a Black family in Boston is just $8, and COVID-19 has widened the racial wealth gap even more.”

Looking back, moving forward

Our Logo

The Sankofa teaches us that we must look back (to our roots) in order to move forward. It is an Adinkran symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana.

We at Rooted In are committed to reaching back and gathering the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward.
