THE STIGMA

THE HISTORY OF Cannabis in Boston

Recreational marijuana, also known as adult-use marijuana, was first legalized in Colorado and Washington in 2012.  In Massachusetts, 2008 saw the decriminalization of Marijuana, and the legalization of Recreational Cannabis came in 2016.  Through the efforts of stalwart advocates such as City Council President Kim Janey, Boston enacted legislation to form the Boston Cannabis Board in November of 2019, whose role is to approve all Cannabis businesses in the City of Boston.  Boston welcomed it's first Recreational Cannabis Dispensary in the Spring of 2020, with several more applicants in the pipeline.
